[edit] Hurricane Katrina relief
Terry Temple, Steve Wolf, Ruben Torres, Bryan Bowers are making there way into Baton Rouge to meet up with Bill Paquette, Chris Lee, Rick Yeomans. The plan is for these teams to meet up sometime this afternoon in Baton Rouge and begin our ministry of food preparation to the Emergency Personnel and others as much as possible.
[edit] Sudan
Much has happened since I last wrote so I want to catch you up a little. Peace in Sudan is fragile right now as they mourn the loss of the deceased Vice President John Garang. Violence was the first reaction but it has calmed down with only a few outbursts every now and then.
I wanted to pass along the words a friend of mine wrote after attending the funeral: Madame Rebecca's words were, "Many leaders come and go but it is what they leave behind that is important. If you love my husband keep peace, then I will not mourn him. I will only mourn him if he died for nothing." John Garang left peace behind. Pray that the people will keep that peace. Pray that the people of Sudan would come to know that lasting peace is found in relationship with the Prince of Peace.
Every time we become discouraged in fund raising God encourages us in some way whether financially or through donated items. This last Friday we met a pastor who invited us to speak for 10 minutes at the Saturday evening service. We spoke and then he called Charity back up to share more. Instead of giving his sermon he felt the congregation was to divide up in small groups to pray. During that time they felt the Lord challenging them to give $10,000 for a well. We were so humbled! The rest of the service was a wonderful time of worship. God is so good to us!
In His Lap,
